Blast Empties Wichita School
Associated Press
WICHITA, Kan. —
A device containing an explosive used in fireworks blew the door off a locker at a high school today, forcing the evacuation of the school’s 1,200 students, officials said.
There were no injuries in the 9 a.m. blast. Teachers were allowed back into Wichita North High about 2 1/2 hours later and classes resumed in the afternoon. The school was also evacuated March 1 after a suspicious-looking device--later determined not to be a bomb--was discovered in a restroom.
