The carcass of a 27-foot gray whale was towed from Pescadero Beach Friday to Fiesta Island, where it was loaded on a truck and transported to a city dump for burial, lifeguards said. The 15-ton, 2-year-old whale washed ashore Thursday. Conservationists said the whale died after becoming entangled in a commercial fishing net. The whale’s body remained on a beach in the Sunset Cliffs area for a day while officials considered ways to dispose of the carcass, said Lt. Al Bruton, a supervising city lifeguard.
