50 Rescued in Cable Car Mishap

CHIETI, Italy —
A cable car full of skiers and tourists broke down on the way up a mountain today and firemen rescued the screaming passengers with a 40-foot ladder, authorities said.
Police said the 50 passengers were going up a mountain outside this city 120 miles northeast of Rome near the Adriatic Coast when the cable car got stuck because of a short circuit.
