A BOO FOR LESTER

It’s no wonder that the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera has lost its audience with a philosophical foundation like Edwin Lester’s (“It’s All a Matter of Personal Taste,” by Sylvie Drake, April 7).

By not accepting the dynamic change of musical theater, Lester allowed his ship to hit the glacier that has created the disaster LACLO is in today. His lack of insight into Stephen Sondheim and praise of Jerry Herman simply remind us how happy we should be that Edwin Lester has retired.
