Arcadia School District to Elect 2 to Board

Share

Five candidates are vying Tuesday for two vacancies on the five-member board of the Arcadia Unified School District.

Seeking the four-year terms in the 7,280-student district are Robert C. Harris, a stockbroker; Mary E. Dougherty, a housewife; David R. Strauss, director of a nonprofit organization; Bill Spuck, an engineering manager at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Marilyn Miller Perkins, a teacher in El Monte.

All are first-time candidates, a district spokesman said. Incumbents Carol D. Papay and Donald E. Fickas decided not to seek reelection, Papay after eight years on the board and Fickas after 13, the spokesman said.
