A partially burned, nude body found last week along Interstate 10 in Riverside County has been identified as that of Phillip Allen Parsons, 51, of Dana Point, Orange County sheriff’s officials said. A 17-year-old acquaintance of Parsons was arrested Friday in Northern California in connection with Parsons’ death. Parsons died of a gunshot wound to the upper torso, according to Riverside County coroner officials. His neighbors called Orange County sheriff’s deputies last Tuesday after they saw water flowing out of the house. A small fire had burned in the house, automatically turning on sprinklers and extinguishing the blaze. The investigation prompted officers to initiate a statewide search for Parsons and the suspect.
