Jetliner Drops Engine Over Ariz.

SAN DIEGO — An American Airlines 727 landed safely at Lindbergh Field in San Diego today after dropping one of its three engines somewhere over western Arizona, an airline official said.
Flight 199, enroute from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to San Diego with 81 passengers and nine crew members aboard, landed under an Alert 1, meaning it was in minor difficulty, at about noon, assistant airport manager Buck Jones said. No one was injured.
