The son of a San Diego County deputy district attorney is expected to enter a guilty plea next week to two felony counts of bank robbery.

John Mark Hewicker III was arraigned on the charges Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Roger Curtis McKee, who ordered him to appear before U.S. District Judge J. Lawrence Irving on Monday for disposition of the case.

Hewicker is free on $15,000 bail.

Assistant U.S. Atty. Patrick O’Toole said Thursday that a plea bargain had been reached in the case after negotiations with Hewicker’s attorney, Ramon Castro.

Castro had waived Hewicker’s right to a grand jury indictment, which delayed court proceedings for settlement talks.

In one bank robbery charge, Hewicker is accused of taking $239 by force and intimidation from a teller at a Great American First Savings Bank Dec. 21. The second count accuses Hewicker of taking $491 from an employee of a Security Pacific Bank branch in La Mesa on Dec. 11.
