College Student Dies From Meningitis

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. —
A student died one day after contracting a form of contagious meningitis and authorities placed a Southeast Missouri State University sorority house under quarantine.
Julie A. Saenger, 22, of St. Louis died at St. Francis Medical Center about four hours after she was taken to the hospital’s emergency room last week.
Forty people who were at the Delta Delta Delta sorority house when Saenger became ill were placed under a 24-hour quarantine, said Art Wallhausen, a university spokesman.
