Court of Appeal justices ratified the December, 1984, ruling of the Appellate Department of Los Angeles Superior Court overturning the conviction of two nuns for child abuse. The justices said the lower court was “sufficiently complete and accurate” in deciding that Lourdine Sok and Urban Maureen Molitor had been denied a fair trial because a Whittier Municipal Court judge wrongly admitted irrelevant and prejudicial testimony. Sok, a former teacher at St. Hillary’s School, had been convicted of misdemeanor child abuse for allegedly hitting an 8-year-old boy in the stomach. Molitor had been convicted of failing to report the conduct.
