Share

Judged by statistics alone, the Lazers would appear to be in trouble tonight when they take on the Baltimore Blast at Baltimore Civic Center in Game 1 of the Major Indoor Soccer League playoff quarterfinals.

The defending MISL champion Blast finished the season in first place in the Eastern Division with a 32-16 record. The Lazers finished in third place in the Western Division with a 24-24 mark.

The Blast was 19-5 at home; the Lazers were 10-14 on the road. Baltimore scored 252 goals and allowed 190, Los Angeles scored 232 goals and allowed 230.

Only one statistic favors the Lazers. They defeated the Blast in two of three meetings this season, winning, 6-5, in overtime at Baltimore (where they also lost, 7-2) and beating the Blast, 4-3, at the Forum.

The game will be carried on radio on a delay basis at 8 p.m.by K-FOX 93.5 fm.
