General Motors Corp. announced Wednesday that it will recall 1.8 million 1978-80 vehicles to modify the rear braking system. The affected models are the Chevrolet Malibu and Monte Carlo, Buick Century and Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass, and Pontiac Le Mans and Grand Prix.

The 1982 Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15 light trucks are also affected, the auto maker said. General Motors said that the brake condition may have contributed to nine accidents and two injuries.
