A FANCY FACELIFT ON DISPLAY
A spectacular 180-degree view of the Pacific Ocean is a bonus that architect Richard Poulos of Newport Beach took full advantage of when he designed the 6,000-square-foot Spanish/Mediterranean-style house that is the site of the Sandpipers’ Design House ’85 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Thirty area designers have pooled their talents to redecorate the house for the philanthropic organization’s 11th annual design-house fund-raising event. The house will be open for tours through May 19--Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Tickets ($8 donation) can be purchased at the door. A fashion show will accompany lunch, which will be served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner will be served Wednesday nights, and a complimentary wine-and-cheese tasting will be hosted Friday nights. Participating designers will be available Wednesday afternoons to answer questions about decorating. Proceeds from the tours will be donated to various South Bay charities. As an added attraction, local artisans will display and sell their works.
