Shipping limits will be imposed on oranges.

The U.S. Agriculture Department said it will place shipping limits for the first time this season on California's Valencia orange harvest. The government accepted a plan from the Los Angeles-based Valencia Orange Administrative Committee to allow shipment of 372 rail carloads from Southern California and 228 from the San Joaquin Valley for the week starting midnight today. A carload equals 1,000 cartons weighing 37 1/2 pounds each.
