Five police officers have been indicted on charges ranging from assault to misconduct following complaints of brutality that forced a high-level department shake-up, a prosecutor announced today.
Queens Dist. Atty. John Santucci said the officers--Lt. Steven Cheswick, Sgt. Richard A. Pike and Officers Michael Aranda, Loren MacCary and Jeffrey W. Gilbert--were indicted on charges that they beat four drug suspects in the 106th Precinct. All but Cheswick allegedly used an electronic stun gun in the purported attacks.
