Falkland, Scotland

Last summer the Sunday Times printed an eye-catching article on Falkland, Scotland. Last September we took a golfing tour of Scotland, and this village was on our way from Gleneagles to St. Andrews. We decided to visit Falkland to see if the village was as charming as the article led us to believe it was.

It was! And one of the most interesting Old World places we have ever been in. There are many fine-looking places to eat, and it was hard to choose one. Also, many good-looking places to stay. We decided on Kind Kyttock’s Kitchen, and were happy we had. It is not only a fine restaurant but a bakery and art gallery combined. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff was heartwarming. They told us what things to see and where shopping was best, for we had said we were pressed for time.

Had we known how truthful the article was, we would have planned a much longer stay in Falkland. The restaurant is open March 1 to Oct. 31, daily, and weekends during November and December, closed January and February.
