Two Lutheran ministers whose political activities on behalf of the unemployed have split their congregations must step down as pastors, church leaders ruled. The Rev. Daniel Solberg must leave Nativity Lutheran Church in Allison Park, Pa., on Wednesday, the executive board of the Western Pennsylvania-West Virginia Synod of the Lutheran Church in America ruled. The Rev. William Rex was ousted from his two congregations, Rose Crest Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Pa., and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Trafford, effective May 31.
