After more than six months of delays while its contractor squabbled with sub-contractors over compensation and other issues, the Rosemead Redevelopment Agency says its long-awaited Zapopan Community Center probably will be finished next month. Construction of the $420,000 community center on Egley Avenue had been scheduled to take six months, an agency spokesman said. Thirteen months later, the redevelopment agency still has a list of 47 items it wants the contractor, Bevan Corp. of Signal Hill, to complete before the agency takes possession of the 4,200-square-foot building, he said. Barbara Carey, secretary to Bevan Corp. president Tim Bevan, confirmed that differences with subcontractors contributed to the delay, but contended that weather and other problems also were factors.
