Falcon Cable TV has been awarded a 15-year franchise by the city of Rosemead. Under the agreement, Falcon will construct a 64-channel cable television system and provide basic service for $9.95 a month, a city spokesman said. The city will receive 5% of Falcon’s gross revenue. Work on the system is scheduled to begin in about six months and take a year to complete. Falcon won the franchise on a 3-2 vote over competitor Group W. Mayor Louis Tury Jr. and Councilmen G. H. (Pat) Cleveland and Jay T. Imperial voted for Falcon. Councilmen Gary A. Taylor and Robert W. Bruesch, who had supported Group W’s franchise bid, dissented.
