‘Traitor’ Charge Against Hayden
Because Hayden abstained from voting for his measure and because he had protested the Vietnam War, Ferguson calls Hayden a traitor.
Are the thousands of Americans who protested the Vietnam War traitors too?
More than 58,000 Americans died and countless thousands were wounded in the tragedy that was Vietnam.
Who bears the responsibility for them? The protesters?
It took courage to go against government policy. Many left home and country for their principles.
I agree with Hayden that along with those who served, those who exercised their right to dissent also deserve respect. They helped bring about an end to the war.
Hayden should be appreciated for his past and present actions. He does not deserve to be called a traitor by the likes of Assemblyman Ferguson, who dishonors himself with this vile attack.
