San Diego State met its match Friday in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships, losing, 9-0, to second-seeded USC.

The No. 7-seeded Aztecs dropped all six singles matches in the contest at Stillwater, Okla., then chose to default the three doubles matches. Ironically, it had been strong doubles play that carried SDSU past Northwestern, 6-3, Thursday and into the second round.

The Aztecs finished the season at 27-9, while USC improved to 31-2. The Trojans are now favored to win the championship, since top-seeded Stanford was dealt a stunning, 5-4 defeat by underdog Trinity Friday.
