A Los Angeles construction firm and its chief engineer have pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor criminal charge of illegally disposing of hazardous waste, a spokesman for the city attorney’s office said. Cushman and Wakefield of California Inc. and its chief engineer, Gary Shield, entered the pleas in Los Angeles Municipal Court, and each was placed on three years’ probation, Deputy City Atty. Keith Pritsker said. The company was fined $15,000 and Shield was fined $5,000, Pritsker said. An additional $14,000 in penalties was assessed.
