April Building Up Sharply, County Reports

Construction activity in the areas served by the Los Angeles County Building & Safety Division totaled $144,427,390 in April, up from the total valuation of $97,791,240 in April, 1984, according to T. A. Tidemanson, director.

Permits in April totaled 2,534 for 865 dwelling units, he added, with 742 of the units in unincorporated county areas and the rest in the 26 cities served by the division.

Thirty-eight permits were issued in April exceeding $500,000 in valuation. The largest--valued at $3.9 million--was for an office building in Lakewood.

Newhall continued to be the office with the heaviest volume in the unincorporated areas, with $33,383,750 in valuation, followed by Lancaster with $9,784,160. Agoura Hills was the leader in incorporated cities, with valuation totaling $14,087,390.
