Davis Loses in Tennis Semifinals
Terry Davis of Chapman College lost, 7-5, 6-3, to Brian Talgo of Rollins College of Florida Saturday in the semifinals of the NCAA Division 2 men’s singles championships at Cal State Northridge.
Davis, the No. 6 seed, had defeated Brian Mehmedbasich of Cal State Hayward, 6-3, 6-4, in the morning’s quarterfinal session.
Two Panther players did not make it past the quarterfinals.
Freshman Paul Wakesa lost to No. 5 seed Paul Appledorn of Ferris State of Big Rapids, Mich., 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Junior John Kline was defeated by Rolf Weidenmeyer of Hayward, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
All three Chapman players earned All-America honors for reaching the quarterfinals of the championships.
