Burbank Mayor Placed on Airport Authority
Burbank Mayor Mary Lou Howard and Margie Gee of Burbank, who has protested airport noise, have been appointed to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, and commissioners William Rudell and Ella Lustig were ousted by the Burbank City Council.
Former City Councilman Leland Ayers, a founding member of the agency, was also reappointed to the three-member authority.
The ouster of Rudell severed formal his ties with Burbank government and the commission, which he helped formed in 1977. Rudell resigned as city attorney last week under pressure from the newly constituted City Council headed by Howard.
Lustig had served on the authority for four years.
Howard and Gee, who were appointed by the City Council, will assume their new posts on June 1. The authority is the governing agency for the airport.
