Suspected Heroin Dealer Arrested

A 20-year-old man, described by Los Angeles police as a major heroin dealer in the Northridge area, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing heroin with intent to sell after he was apprehended with 100 balloons full of the drug, police said.

Ramon Lopez of Northridge was being held at the Van Nuys Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

The bail was first set at $20,000, the standard amount for the charge. But Municipal Court Judge Michael Luros increased the bail after learning that there were three bench warrants for Lopez’ arrest, that Lopez had no identification and that police had called him a major heroin dealer.
