Carl Lewis Withdraws From San Jose Meet
Carl Lewis has withdrawn from Saturday’s Bruce Jenner Bud Light track meet in San Jose because of a hamstring injury he suffered last weekend, meet director Bert Bonanno said Wednesday.
Bonanno said that Lewis’ doctor had advised the sprinter not to run in the 100- and 200-meter races as scheduled. Lewis injured his right hamstring while long-jumping in an invitational meet at UCLA.
Lewis took only three jumps, but said at the time: “This was by no means a pull. It was just a cramp. It doesn’t bother me to walk. It should be all right tomorrow, but I’m no expert on injuries.”
The extent of the injury is not known.
