Engineers continued to work Friday on a faulty air monitor that delayed generation of the first electricity at the Palo Verde nuclear generating station west of here.

The first nuclear chain reaction at the power plant had been scheduled for Thursday but was postponed when it was discovered that the air monitor was not working properly. The monitor analyzes the hydrogen content of the air inside the nuclear reactor containment building.
