In his On the Radio column May 7 John Horn criticized the number of records stored in the KLA air studio as being a small collection, which demonstrates his failure to understand KLA’s intention to present a tight format consisting of only UCLA’s favorite albums.

He also mentioned that KLA broadcasts volleyball with obvious sarcasm. But he failed to mention that volleyball is only one portion of KLA’s all-encompassing Bruin sports coverage that includes UCLA football, basketball and exclusive coverage of UCLA baseball, totaling more than 100 games per year.

Finally, Horn severely misinterprets the ability to receive KLA’s “weak” signal. Any of the 6,000 UCLA dorm students can receive KLA without the fear that it might not “ricochet” correctly. Also, Group W cable estimates that nearly 40,000 homes can currently receive KLA.
