BAD BONDS DISCOVERED: Members of the James Bond Esoterica and Genealogical Club reacted swiftly to mistakes they found in Roderick Mann’s May 12 article on Roger Moore. Richard Cibener of Los Angeles and Laurence F. Jay of Pasadena each pointed out that the new Bond movie title “A View to a Kill” was based on the title of a 007 short story and was not created by film maker Albert Broccoli, as our man Mann implied. Mann’s claim that Fleming’s titles have “long since run out” also was disputed by Cibener, who ticked off three Ian Fleming short-story titles that remain unused, and UCLA graduate student Martin J. Rosenstock, who listed five titles. Meanwhile, Thomas Wood of Laguna Hills dis-interred the name of George Lazenby, the Aussie actor and original replacement for Sean Connery (in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”) who was in turn replaced by Roger Moore. Moore, no doubt, will be kept in Bondage until Ricky Schroder comes of age.
