A motorcyclist died Thursday after he apparently fell off his vehicle when it drifted into the median as he waved at a motorist on the Garden Grove Freeway, authorities said.

Robert Bradley, 45, of Chino, was dead on arrival at Fountain Valley Community Hospital, the California Highway Patrol reported.

An autopsy did not immediately establish the cause of death, but investigators believe Bradley may have suffered a heart attack, according to a coroner’s office spokesman. Further tests have been ordered.

CHP Officer Larry Kleasner said Bradley was traveling west on the freeway near the Euclid Avenue exit about 6:15 a.m. when he passed a car driven by Alfred Brameld, 53, of Norco. Bradley waved at Brameld, then his motorcycle drifted into the freeway median and he fell off, Kleasner said. He said the riderless motorcycle traveled 700 feet and finally came to rest on its side.

Brameld, a retired paramedic, stopped to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation before paramedics arrived and transported Bradley to the hospital, Kleasner said.
