Two elderly women were found severely beaten and their Monrovia home ransacked, according to sheriff’s deputies. Mable Close Bell, 83, and Florence Lang, in her 80s, were beaten and their home ransacked “sometime in the last two days,” according to a sheriff’s spokesman. Both women were hospitalized in “extremely critical” condition. They were found by a gardener who became suspicious when he saw a door to the home open. The motive for the attack appeared to be burglary, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
