The son of television minister George Vandeman was sentenced to six months in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to stabbing his father in the back and face. Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Donna Walters said Ronald Vandeman, 43, has a history of mental illness and would be kept in the psychiatric ward of Ventura County Jail. Vandeman pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon in the April 12 attack on his 68-year-old father at the family home in Thousand Oaks. The father was treated overnight at a hospital and released.
