Former President Richard M. Nixon was a “silent partner” in President Reagan’s 1984 campaign, and First Lady Nancy Reagan “fussed” so much that aides removed her from many Air Force One trips, a book on the campaign said, describing Nancy Reagan as a constant campaign worrier. The book, “The Quest for the Presidency 1984,” was written by senior editors and correspondents of Newsweek magazine who had unusual access to candidates in return for a promise not to print anything until after the campaign.
