Lawyer Who Fled With Convict Weds Ex-Husband’s Kin
Mary Pentecost Evans, the former lawyer who threw away a promising career to help a convicted killer escape from prison, has married her former husband’s cousin, court records show.
Evans, 28, married William Evans, 35, on May 24 at the Palm Beach County Courthouse. The couple’s marriage license said they planned to live in Pompano Beach.
The bride served 11 months in prison for helping William Kirk escape prison in Tennessee in March, 1983. The couple spent 4 1/2 months on the run before being captured by FBI agents in Daytona Beach, Fla.
