A 31-year-old Navy man was booked into County Jail on suspicion of fatally shooting a man police found Monday night slumped over the steering wheel of his small pickup truck, a police spokesman said.
Richard Wayne Anzalone, 29, was discovered about 11:06 p.m. Monday in his truck, with the engine running, in the 3000 block of Barnett Street, near the Naval Training Center in San Diego. The man had suffered three gunshot wounds to the head, the spokesman said.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Joseph Mena, 31, was arrested at the Naval Training Center a short while later. A .357 magnum pistol was discovered in the passenger seat of the dead man’s truck.
