Special Pickups of Trash to Begin in Costa Mesa

Share

Beginning Friday, a nine-week program to help clean up Costa Mesa gets under way with special pickups of large, bulky items.

Residents will receive hand-delivered notices at least one week in advance to advise them when neighborhood pickups will take place.

The pickups will be made by Orco Disposal Inc., the firm that handles regular trash collection for most of the city. Items should be placed in the same curb or alley locations as regular trash, but kept separate.

Material and items that will not be collected include asphalt, car bodies, chemicals, concrete, dirt, oil drums, paint cans and tree limbs. Items that will be collected include furniture and appliances. Lumber will also be picked up.

Trucks will make one pickup at each location during the program. A service charge will be levied for any return trips.

Residents not served by Orco must make arrangements with the firm for a special pickup.
