PINEVILLE, La. —
A small plane that had just tried to land at an airport crashed into a mental hospital dormitory Friday, killing both persons in the plane, setting the building afire and injuring three patients, authorities said.
The single-engine Piper Cherokee clipped the dormitory at Central State Hospital and showered a porch with burning fuel before crashing in the backyard, witnesses said.
The plane had aborted its landing at Pineville Municipal Airport, stalled and crashed, state police said.
