EL MONTE — Anti-abortion activist Carmen Trujillo pleaded guilty in Rio Hondo Municipal Court to three counts of trespassing involving incidents at two medical facilities here, Deputy Dist. Atty. Melissa Maxwell said.
Judge Michael Bryne sentenced Trujillo to 20 days in jail, but she was released because she already had been in custody for that amount of time. Trujillo also was placed on two years probation. Two other trespassing charges and a battery charge were dismissed, Maxwell said.
Trujillo was arrested earlier this year after incidents at the Family Planning Medical Clinic and Greater El Monte Community Hospital, where she had led anti-abortion pickets, Maxwell said.
The Family Planning Medical Clinic, which performs abortions, is a frequent target of anti-abortion protestors. However, a spokesman said the Greater El Monte Community Hospital does not perform abortions.
