O’CONNELL MAKES MOVE

Share

A week after former KNBC news anchor Tritia Toyota signed with KCBS-TV Channel 2, KNBC weatherman Kevin O’Connell has followed suit. He is expected to begin appearing on the Channel 2 news next week, a KCBS spokeswoman said Tuesday.

However, a decision on which newscast he will work was not immediately made. KCBS management is still deciding how it will staff the various news programs now that Toyota is on the premises. She is due to make her first on-air appearance Monday.

O’Connell, who also hosted KNBC’s public affairs series “Sunday,” joined Channel 4 in May, 1982. Before that he had worked for seven years as a weatherman at WIVB-TV in his native Buffalo.
