Laws Must Be Translated

OTTAWA — More than 4,000 laws enacted in the province of Manitoba between 1890 and 1979 are unconstitutional because they were written in English only, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled Thursday. But it said the laws will remain “temporarily valid” pending their translation into French. The decision did not set a deadline for the translation.
