Kings to Pick Twice in First Round

Barring late trades, the Kings will have two first-round picks in the National Hockey League entry draft today at Toronto.
Last year, the Kings swapped first-round picks with the Chicago Black Hawks, but King General Manager Rogie Vachon said he will probably keep the two picks this year.
“If I get an offer I couldn’t refuse, I’d make a trade,” Vachon said. “But it would have to be something I couldn’t refuse.”
The Toronto Maple Leafs, who finished with the worst record in the NHL last season, have the No. 1 pick, and Craig Simpson, Michigan State center, is rated the top player by NHL Central Scouting. But Simpson recently said that he doesn’t want to play for the Maple Leafs.
The draft will be shown on big-screen TV at the Forum, starting at 10 a.m.
