The news service, which filed for reorganization under federal bankruptcy laws in late April, disclosed the profit in documents to be filed with a federal bankruptcy court this week. The agency also said, however, that reorganization might be impossible if it does not win further concessions from employees in negotiations now under way. Union officials said the company had told them that UPI was only “marginally profitable,” and others involved in the bankruptcy have raised questions about the way UPI is presenting its financial situation to the court.
