Spring Valley
A 15-month-old girl drowned Tuesday in a backyard spa at a licensed day care facility in Spring Valley.
Jessica Herron was pronounced dead in the Grossmont Hospital emergency room at noon, according to Deputy San Diego County Coroner Chuck Bolton.
Bolton said the child, of Spring Valley, was last seen playing in the backyard with two other children at 10:15 a.m. When Anita Ysais, a day care worker, called the children inside for a snack and only two showed up, she began to look for Jessica and found her face down in the spa.
Ysais pulled the child out, began cardiopulmonary resuscitation and called paramedics, who transported the girl to the hospital. The child did not respond to CPR.
