White Point Park Site Controversy

Regarding undeveloped White Point Park in San Pedro, I believe the controversy over the site, most recently reported upon in The Times’ South Bay section June 16, is due largely to local residents resisting all efforts at any development or usage of any type, park or otherwise, that will change the status quo and cause the site to be available to any significant number of people.

Local residents have in the past prevailed with responsible parks authorities in preventing recreational usage of the White Point area and have indeed kept it reserved for a select few who live in view of or within very few minutes of the site. I believe my tax dollars would be better utilized with Air Force use of the land instead of maintaining a semi-private reserve for locals.
