Mary Tyler Moore, whose acclaimed “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” was a solid CBS hit from 1970 to 1977, is returning to CBS in another half-hour situation comedy, a spokesman for her production company, MTM Enterprises, said Thursday.

He had no specific information about the new series, except that it won’t be on the network’s fall schedule “because we haven’t even begun filming yet.”

A CBS spokesman only would confirm that “Mary is returning to the network.” He said a press conference will be held this afternoon at CBS’ production facilities in Studio City to disclose details of her new show.

Moore, who briefly appeared on Broadway about five years ago as the star of a rewritten version of “Whose Life Is It, Anyway,” wasn’t available for comment Thursday. She was reported to be busy filming a theatrical movie, “Something in Common” in which she plays a housewife whose husband has an affair with a TV reporter, played by Christine Lahti.
