MADONNA, SEAN PENN TO WED?

Another rock-and-film marriage apparently is in the works. Following the wedding last month of rocker Bruce Springsteen and actress Julianne Phillips, rock star Madonna is planning to marry movie star Sean Penn in August, columnist Suzy reported in the New York Daily News on Monday.

The report said Madonna “almost popped her corset then, without thinking twice, said yes.”

The newspaper said the couple has been “an item for months,” but that the wedding is planned for August, as soon as Penn finishes shooting his new picture, “At Close Range,” in Atlanta.

Representatives for both Madonna and Penn had no comment.

The report said Madonna and Penn also plan to star together in a movie, “Pipeline,” set in the Alaskan oil fields.

Madonna, who has inspired a fashion trend among her female fans of lace, corsets and midriff-baring tops, has sold 9 million copies of her two albums. She recently branched into movies, earning favorable reviews in the title role of “Desperately Seeking Susan.”

Penn, one of Hollywood’s “Brat Pack,” most recently starred in “The Falcon and the Snowman.”
