. . . For It’s One Thumb You’re Out . . .
An organist who launched into a round of “Three Blind Mice” at a Florida State League baseball game following a controversial call by an umpire was ejected from the stadium Wednesday night.
Wilbur Snapp was escorted by officials from Jack Russell Stadium after plate umpire Kevin O’Connor said he would not allow the minor league game to resume until the organist was out of the park.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Clearwater Phillies’ Rick Jordan lifted a fly to right field with one out and a man on first base. The Osceola Astros’ right fielder caught the ball and threw the ball back into the infield, doubling Howard Nichols off first.
First base umpire John Golden called Nichols out--and Snapp began to play.
O’Connor said he kicked out Snapp for being a detriment to the game, according to Clearwater General Manager Dave Rowan.
