Exporting Firms Need Uncle Sam’s Support

Share

I agree with “Hard Work Boosts Exports” (Letters, May 19).

We exporters do not need more support programs from the state, city and county governments.

What we need is for the President and Congress to address the needs of American exporters by enacting innovative programs of support that would enable us to compete in foreign markets as our counterparts do here.

Not only do we need support from the federal government, we need it especially from the manufacturers.

There seems to be a feeling that we do not need international trade, that we can survive from dealing with ourselves.

If this attitude persists we’ll find ourselves buying more and more from overseas because of quality, price and service.
