Hearings have been postponed in a lawsuit seeking to block Occidental Petroleum’s plans to drill for oil along the Pacific Palisades shoreline.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Norman Epstein is scheduled to hear the case Sept. 12, rather than the original date of July 24, said Roger Diamond, attorney for the plaintiffs.

No Oil Inc., an organization that has fought the drilling proposal for 15 years, and a Palisades couple, Richard and Veda Weisman, are contending that the City of Los Angeles approved the drilling without an adequate environmental impact report.

Diamond said the hearing was delayed because the case was transferred Friday to Epstein from Judge Irving Shimer and that the judge will need to read many documents before arguments begin.
